Ok guys...i am doing a little research and no one in the regular chat rooms can help me so here it goes...
If you look up mylar on the internet...it is just plain ol plastic film...and guess what...i work where i make plastic....but we do not make reflective plastic such as the mylar you are all used to using...so here is the question...
If someone is able to use flat white paint as a reflector...(i know its not a great one) but it is still a reflector...and is kinda low on cash...would white plastic be able to be used????? i know its not a hard question to answer...but i was really wondering about this and would like some input b4 i dish out 26 on something i might have almost as good of results on with something i can get free of charge...

Flat white pain isnt actually too bad. Mylar is the most reflective, but white paint is fine to, so i see no problem with using white plastic.

unless you are experienced enough to grow your plants under optimal conditions 100% of the time then i doubt you would even notice a difference between white paint and white plastic.

If you plan on using sheets of plastic as a room divider, you're going to want to make a sandwich with black in the middle and white on the surfaces.
Plastic doesn't block light all that well. There's something called PAnda film that's meant for this purpose but if you're just using the type that is used on construction sites plan on multiple layers.
For just covering walls, IMO white paint is easier to deal with. I'd go with an oil based primer that contains a fungicide.
If you want to go super cheap, order some mylar emergency blankets from a camping supply place. You can find them on the internet for like a buck each for a 4x6 piece. But it is VERY thin and does not block light at all, only good for covering walls.

Mylar, best, white paint or plastic, good.
To test reflectiveness cheaply, look at it. What's brightest is best.
To test reflectiveness not cheaply, buy a lumen meter or something.
