How does loosing at leaf affect plant growth?

If at all, to what extent does losing a leaf (one that is still growing in) ultimately affect the growth of a plant? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Don't worry about it too much, unless it is one of the very first leaves that the seedling produces, in which case it would be a setback.
