Question on Foxfarm Ocean Forest Potting soil for SuperSkunk...
Was considering using this soil (never have) and wanted to know if it would be applicable to what I have planned. Will be using 3 gal pots for the grow. I will be running a 400 W HPS from seedlings on a 14/10 cycle and then in the beg of week 2 switching them to a 12/12. Once they reach maturation from the juvenile veg stage to adult veg then they should start to flower. I am looking at a total turn around time of approximately 13 weeks total. Will be in a 8x6x5 closet (with space taken up from shelving).
My question relates to this soil since I have never used it. I wanted to know that since I will be flowering as early as possible will the organic medium still contain to much of its organic nutes, since it works in a slow release fashion, or will this not be an issue? I would then just start my flowering nutes when the time comes.
Also, any other tips on this particular strain would be great as the source said that all info could be obtained on forums.

Your better off with 18/6.
14/10 is a variation of the 12/12 flowering time.
You'll find they grow quicker wtih 18/6, and the plant needs the extra light in veg.
The reason the light times are reduced is the plant measures the un-interuppted light cycle which releases flowering hormones.

I thank you for the input, but I have been growing for some years and I have found that a naturaul light cycle of like 15/9, 14/10 for veg work just fine. I also found that the shorter ligh cycle tends to produce (for me anyways) less males and more females. If I wanted maximum veg growth then I would possibly put them on 18/6, but 1) i am using HPS all the way through, I think, so thats not optimal and 2) I am flowering them right away, so I am more concerned with time and space rather than optimal veg growth.
FYI, one theory thrown out over the years is that when you shorten the light cycle from a seedling, it possibly stimulates the plants into thinking that time is short, therefore inducing rapid growth from juvenile veg => adult veg. This was stated in relation to a 12/12 cycle from the getgo. This is so the plant can flower as fast as possible since inpending doom is near. Some also say that this possibly induces stress which causes some strains to go hermi on us. As far as any of my grows have went in the past I have had no issues with my lighting method. Since I have not grown in this particular medium I wanted to know about the consumption of nutrients from the organic breakdown. Thanks again.
BTW...I don't know of any suitable strains that change from veg to flower on a 14/10 cycle. I could be wrong so please inform if I am incorrect as I have been out of growing for a significant time now.
