National Drugs Task Force. . . .

Are these people serious?? Whats this country coming to??
For a start i think they are been way to conservative with their figures. It's at least double that number, if not more. There is a report about to be published by the National Drugs task force, on cannabis use in Ireland and there claiming that cannabis is responsible for the majority of suicides amongst young people in this country!
But no they dont stop there, oh no. There also claiming that it's responsible for a lot of the carnage on our roads! (Through Drug Driving) And amongst other things it's (apparently) responsible for depression and psychotic episodes amongst most of it's users!
It's high time that this country woke up to reality and took responsibility for the problems that are compounded in our society and stopped looking for excuses and/or reasons to blame cannabis users for the problems that exist.
Just because some n00bs in suits bang heads with each other once a year and come up with some usless report, it's ok for every radio station in the country to hop on the bandwagon and start ranting about how 'dangerous' cannabis is and what should be done to 'address the issue'.
It's time people realised that just because we choose to smoke cannabis, it does not mean that we are all hippies or drop-outs and it does not make us any worse off than anyone else. And that we are not wasters or lay-abouts that are always drugged up and incapable of doing a days work, or of been decent people! And just because i choose to smoke cannabis means that i am a criminal! It's not my fault it's illegal. And it's MY choice to smoke, just as it's many peoples choices to drink alcohol. How many deaths have there been from cannabis? None! How many from alcohol? Too Many! And sure enough alcohol is not going to be criminalised because the govermemt make Millions from it each year. Personally im sick of been branded because of the way i choose to live my life. . . . And sick of every generation of politics that fail to admit that the 'war' on drugs was lost a long time ago and it's now time to focus on the reality of the situation. . . .

The vast majority of people that smoke cannabis in this
Country do so because they Want to,
And not because they 'ave been 'forced' to do so. . . .
I'm just sick and tired of people that use cannabis, been held

Well, we (The CCPR) appeared in the Irish Independent on Saturday, and it seems there is a significant amount of journalists who support legalisation, and normal citizens too. If you want to get involved in the counter-attack, we're planning a march in Dublin next month. Also you can read our response to the government report on www.ccpr.ie :)

I like how it sounds, but there are a number of "hopeless" organisations around
