Smith Victor Q60 light ok?
my neighbor came home the other day with a couple lights he got for $5 each. they are marked as Smith Victor Q60, 3200 degree kelvin, 600 watt lights. i see the company sells them for $150. these seem to be close to the right range for flowering and i'm wondering if they pluss a couple cfl's i could get some nice plants going. if nobody says there is something wrong with these, i'm gonna try to buy them from my neighbor if i can.
here is the link to the product:

NO, its a halogen, an it wont grow shit.
you need MH or HPS.

it will burn your plants and possibly your house down, those type of quartz lamp get VERY hot and the bulbs don't last for crap, use those to take pictures, not grow plants.

You can always go the CFL (Compact Flourescent Light) if you don't go with a HPS or MH. Won't yield as much though.

thanks to all that commented. i could tell they got hot, but if they won't grow and they get hot, who needs 'em. for $10 they seemed like a gargain, and even if he doubled the price it still seemed like a bargain, but if they won't grow then it is money down the drain.
thanks.

nah, for $10 buy em and re-sell them on ebay, big market for photo floods. It would fetch enough to buy lots of equipment and offset the cost.
