Lighting & Flowering
When y'all say the lights need to be on 24/7 for the growing cycle. When do you switch the lighting system? and when you do, when do you switch the lighting for flowering? and what do you mean flowering? when you 1st see buds on there?
sorry, rookie grower here.
Got screwed with a male plant the other day.

You switch the lighting system to the 12/12 cycle when you want to cause the plant to start to flower. It is personal choice when to switch the lighting to flower the plant. The longer you wait the larger your plant will grow and essentially the more buds you can get, but also you have to wait longer, so it all comes down to personal choice.

Really, so i could let the plant grow and grow til it gets pretty decent size then change the lighting cycle.
At the beginning keep it on 24/7, right?

You can keep the lighting on whatever you are usising for the vegitationg cycle for quite a long time. I have read about people keeping their plants in the vegitation cycle for years and years before they start to flower it, though I doubt that you would want to do that. :)

just remember the plant doubles or triples in size when you flower it. i personally think that 20/4 or 18/6 is better than 24/0 lighting but thats just me. when you switch to 12/12 thats called flowering ,when the plant shows its sex and starts to bud. and waiting how long you want to flower all depends on what size you want it. if you flower when the plant is a foot tall it could end up at 2 1/2 to 3 feet or higher, it all depends on the strain.
