Metal Halide or HP Sodium?
I have tried a metal halide lamp for the first time recently, and didnt think that it gave me as good results as my previous choice of bulb (HPS). I heard that MH were better for vegative growth, and to swap to HPS for flowering, is this true?? Any advice would be most welcome! cheers.

You heard correct. MH is good for veg and HPS is good for flowering.

i use a hps from 3 weeks old until harvest and get good results. my mate uses halide from start to finish. also with good results. though he swears his buds are always denser and tighter packed than mine. but i reckon using both would be best. funds allowing..

Sativa,
I have grown in the past (indoors) and have had the best luck with both halides and HPS running at the same time, one HPS in the middle and halides spaced evenly around the HPS..... one thing that I will say is that if you are going to grow indoors use CO2 injection... unbelievable results, you can actually watch your plants grow. There are many cost effective ways to harness CO2 for your plants... GLTY :) :) :)

Both MH lights and HPS lamps will work well for plant growth. The thing that people talk about is MH lamps emit a spectrum of light for vegitation growth that works the best and HPS light emits a spectrum of light for flowering that works the best. Both will still work for either cycle though, so if you have only one or the other and cant afford to buy another set up I wouldnt worry about it.

I was so used to using HPS that the metal halide seemed weak to me. but I was using a 400 watt CONVERSION bulb, wich I found out really only gives about 250 watts of power on the metal halide. Well that was great for gettiong the plants started, now I'm back on the 400watt hortilux HPS bulb & I even added another 400 watt set up!
