i have a small 2 and a half week old plant or so and on one of the first two leaves there was a small orange patch and it now is turning brown and shriviling the leave would it be ok to cut the leave where it stops or just completely off? or should i leave it because i do not want to risk killing it
I'd leave it! Sounds as if it's stressed by it shrivling.What are they potted in? Are they indoors or out? Could be an insect.Wasps will sting a plant.

its inside so its no insects its been a small defect on the plant for awhile just now has it started to kill the leaf

All it'll do is shock the plant, and then it'll slow down all growth to repair the damage you would have done.
The plant is smarter than us, it'll sort its own problems out. Let the leaf die and fall off, if its evern going to.
You need to be more worried about WHY its going yellow.
In this case its ok, cos its the first 2 leaves and they normally die off, but if it happens to other plants, be worried.

It sounds like you are either overwatering or the soil doesn't have enough drainage.
If there are dead or dying fronds/leaves , cut them off, so that your plants energy can go to replacing them rather that supporting them.
yeah what Euphoric said cut them off . dead or dying leafs can bring mold and diease.:rasta:
little blemish spots on your plant aren't a big deal, just think of the abuse it would get if outside. I have a few spots on my plants right now, nothing to worry about, it can't stay neat and perfect forever, just leave the affected leafs.
rule of thumb ... don't cut leaves...
often there are leaves that fall off with a gentle pull.. it is ok to remove theses leaves... a healthy vegging plant should not loose leaves ... especially if it is getting adequate light...lower branches and leaves that do not get adequate light to produce good buds should/can be removed during (vegging stage) or turned into clones
I'm going to have to dissagree with the people that say you should never cut off leaves. Generally you don't want to cut leaves, but there are times you must:
- if there is mold on them (fix the cause of this soon)
- if there is a concentration of spider mites on them (fix the cause of this soon)
- if they are so old and yellow that the plant cannot benefit from them any more. At this point you are only shielding light and inviting disease and mold. This is completly normal during flowering and around the bottom during veg.
- if you cannot sufficiently bend them out of the way when they are blocking the light from a bud during bloom.
And that's da truth.
