A question for the women on here
This may take a while for me to verbally explain , but I'm going to try my best. Tonight, I went to the bars (as usual) and i kept seeing this cute girl that kept connecting with me (visually) so I walked up to her end of the bar and ordered a drink. I casually turned to her and said "Hi, I'm ******* (my name)." I jokingly apologized to her for not having any kind of original pick-up line, and told her I saw her from across the bar and just wanted to introduce myself. The night went well and I got her number, but afterwards I was wondering if this pseudo "I-don't-have-a-line" pickup-line was just a bit too cheesey. It was unintentional and my conversation with her was unrehearsed, but I was wondering if men use this "non-line-line" more frequently then i'm aware of, because when i talk to women i try my hardest not to be cliche. Do you think that a line like this is commonly used by men?

I don't think you need to worry. What you said wasn't cheesy or cliched. It was simply true. Not having a pickup line seems to me a big advantage. It's the cheeseballs who come around, all cocky and full of flattery, saying "Where have you been all my life, gorgeous?" who set off our warning systems. We immediately think, "Uh oh, this guy does this all the time. And he thinks that's gonna get him somewhere." I've been married a long time, but I still get hit on in bars and sometimes in restaurants, too. It amazes me how a wedding ring doesn't slow them down a bit. In some ways, I think it encourages them.

i think everyone has a "fallback" line...if she gave you her(real) number, then you know it worked...it's better than asking if it hurt when she fell from heaven or telling her she has an onion ass(a carni told me that once..)i doubt she even thought twice about it, and was relieved you aproached her instead of the other way around....she started, you finished...nice job...make her say ********(your name) when youre slamming her....

Commonly used by men no, You ever try meeting some one from on line? I find it much better than at a bar, cause when me and my guy finally did meet, I felt like I knew him well, cause we chatted for like 5 months before we met :)

its deffinitly a hell of a lot better then an actual pickup line. it shows you have a sence of humor and she probaly laughed (girls like to laugh). i do stuff like that every once in a while and always seem to get good responses.

Mistakes
1. You dont buy drinks for women in bars.
2. You never apologize for being confident.
3. You never use any type of "line" or even mention that word to a woman.
4. You stayed too long.
5. Ask her name first then wait for her to ask yours.
Things you did right.
1. She signaled her interest in you first with body language. You approached.
Guys that approach women without body language first fail every time.
Women do the choosing. You do the challenging.
Dont worry about "lines" just connect with her.
2. You got the phone number. At that point you should have politely ended or winded down the conversation and bailed, then wait at least 5 days to call and ask her out for a date for a weekday only. No weekends for 3 weeks into dating.
Never, ever talk on a womans answering machine until you have been dating for at least a solid month or so.
You will send the message to her of your availability, that you are not making her feel obligated, that you are a challenge and you are confident.
You need to do this from the start.
