Transition Flush/Nutes Advice...

I always got confused on the transition flush when going from vegging to flowering. How long do you flush for? One day? One week? Also, do you flush right before you put the plants in the 24 hour dark period before switching, or right after?

What I gather is this. Start the flush before the 24 hour dark period. Flush for a day, then go on to the bloom nutrients. Am I completely off in this? Also, with using the supplement Bud Blood, do I start this as soon as I begin the bloom nutrients, or 1 week after? Thanks to all who respond.

Anyone familiar with when to use the Bud Blood? Latewood, I'm trying to set up a nute schedule similar to yours. Can you show me your weekly veg/flower regimine? I was going to try and use the Lucas formula, and add in Liquid Karma, Cal Mag (since I'll be using distilled water), Hygrozyme, Bud Blood, Big Bud, and Overdrive+Banana Manna. Thanks!

My info says flush before 12/12 a week if you like. I don't flush at all and Change nutes when you change light and add bud blood for the first week of flowering. Then change rez and add big bud. I don't know about the rest. I am using the lucas formula, 1 part micro, 2 part bloom. add to the PPM's you want. Like in 5 gallons, 4 table spoons of micro and 8 table spoons bloom is about 1200 PPM's. Hope that helps. Check out my papaya.

Correct? Also, I've always wondered, if I'm using 5 gallon DWC buckets, how much nute solution can I expect to be putting in each bucket? 4 gallons? 4.5 gallons? When it says 15 mL per gallon for nutrient directions, does that mean 15 mL per gallon of water? Or per gallon of nutrient solution? So if I'm using 8 mL of Micro and 16 mL of Bloom per gallon, and I have 4 gallons, is it 4 gallons of water, 32 mL of Micro, 64 mL of Bloom? Or is it 4 gallons - (32 mL +64 mL)= amount of water to use? If I remember the chem terms right, I think I'm asking if you use molarity or molality for the mixing instructions. Final question, say I'm in a stage where I'm adding 6 additives (LK, Hygrozyme, Cal Mag, Banana Manna, and Overdrive). How do I mix properly? LK, Water, Hygrozyme, Cal Mag, Overdrive, Banana Manna, Micro, Bloom- in that order? What would be the proper order? Also, how do you mix nutrients? Do you do it outside the bucket, and then pour in? Or would you start with a clean bucket, have the airpump/airstone running, pour in the additives, then the water, etc. and allow the bubbles to do the mixing for you? Thanks for all the help guys, I'm sure these are basic questions, but I've searched through several of my growbooks as well as lots of sites, but just couldn't come across these answers.

well I have cutback from lucas 0-8-16 bloom formula...
I am using a 0-5-10...this allows for the ppm's/EC of the additives, without overjuicing them. I have tweaked my formula and I like the results so far...I am trying to alleviate the late flower hermie problems that seem to arrive 5-6 weeks into bloom. I figured the 1st step would be to cutback on EC a little, since it is widely known that you do not generally have to run full strength nutes for hydro.
Another positive to this theory is, nutes supply stretches 25-50% further.

so, per gallon
0- grow
5ml- micro
10ml- bloom
5ml- calmag+(if you recognize a magnesium deficiency...
use 10ml per gallon)
10ml-hygrozyme,
big bud 1tsp per gallon.92nd through 6th week of flower.
overdrive for a week (optional) then flush with final phase or clearex, or florakleen*, (what* I use now, It alsop remove salts from your hydroton, so you can safely re-use hydroton each grow...without the worry of salt build-up.

Liquid Karma I am using like a supplement when I top off.
8-10ml per gallon, for top off, instead of plain ro/distilled water. So no value of LK was given for the recipe.

With this formula your EC should be around 1.8-2.2

then to top off...I add rowater w/Liquid karma...It has N-P-K-Ca-Mg, and others I can't call off the top of my head...
But it has nutrient value So I top off with that, and it helps keep ppms where I want them, without adding more nutes or worrying about toxic levels due to not doing a complete nute solution changeout.

Is the big bud dosage you gave for the powder or liquid? I know they can vary greatly...Also, would you recommend using the dosage given on AN's nute calculator for voodoo juice and overdrive, or something smaller since you said hydro typically needs less? Also, I take it since I am mixing Liquid Karma and water outside of the reservoir, that I also do the same during reservoir changes (I mix up the nutes then put them into my buckets, and not put the nutes into the buckets and allow the bubbles to mix?). Or doesn't it really matter, that either way will mix fine? Also, was my method right in saying that you add additive, water, more additives (each separately- mix thoroughly before adding another), then base nutes? I was thinking you wouldn't want to add two concentrated chemicals together without first adding water. Also, you said my EC should be between a 1.8-2.2 What would that translate to in PPM? Sorry, bought a TDS pen instead of an EC one.

Also, I'm guessing now dosing directions are given per gallon of water, and not per solution, right? So with your Liquid Karma top-off solution, say I needed to top off a half gallon of solution. I would have 5 mL of Liquid Karma and half gallon of water (larger total volume)? Or would I have 5 mL of Liquid Karma + water making up a half gallon total (smaller total volume)? Everytime I think of this, I think I might be getting too nitpicky, but with the sensitivity of the plant and the strength of the concentrations, one answer might give me nute burn and the other might give me a perfect grow. Also, when topping off, say I have a reservoir pH of 5.8. I mix up my LK+nutes+water, then I pH it down to 5.8 before adding it? Or I add it and then use pH down in my solution to get it to where I want? Final question, now that you are doing the topping off with LK, are you still doing res change outs every week? Or have you started to where you only do a changeout when you've topped off an amount equal to your original container size? Thanks, lots of questions I know!

Yeah I figured you don't add the nutrients together, you would want the water to act as sort of a buffer. My question was is it ok to pour water and nutes directly into the reservoir and allow the bubbles to mix, or should I mix the water and nutes by hand (with a wooden spoon/other stirring instrument), and then pour them into the buckets? I'm guessing it doesn't matter, or that it might actually be more beneficial to allow the bubbles to mix it, as it might do a better job. So allow the nute mixture to bubble for how long before I transition the plant over? 5 minutes? I had also heard from another source that you put your additives in before your base nutes, so I just wanted to clear up what order I should be using. Yours differed, but I think I'll take your advice. Also found out in one of my grow books last night that nute amounts are based on volume of water and not volume of solution, so that got cleared up as well. Thanks everyone, great help!
