I saw where one guy is cooling their cabinet with 4 CPU fans I am working on the same idea. It will be super quiet and they were all free. I would like to know if I should also bring air in with one also. As for lights I will use 3 30watt clfs and for flowering a 150 hps or 400 hps. Also I would like to know if he is using a 110v converter to 12 dc. The cabinet will be used for two plants I will keep clones and a mother in another spot.

Yes, you can use it, but consider some things:
They dont only give little presion, so they are only valid if there is no ducting. If they are free, and ducting need, you can put some in a stack.
They dont flow large volumes, in general, and sure for silent ones. 12cm fans can easy double the air volume that tipycal 8cm fan can move. 8cm fans works fine for venting into the cabinet, but at least 9cm fans are required for extraction, or you will need a bunch of 8vm ones.
They will work fine for the CFLs and the 150w HPS, but you will need a lot to use them with the 400w HPS.
The best way to put them is with regulable transformers to 12V DC, so you can easily regulate voltage, RPMs and noise (clean them often if you want to heep them silent, and run them at 9v if you can).
if you read my post of the 110volt fan, you would see it flows 81 cubic feet per minute ... that is a LOT for a small fan ... try READing .... :smokin:Quote:

What i was saying is that 12cm fans and more powerful or less noisy, take the hand you prefer.
But if you are going to use that fan, why do you ask? I offer you my experience about venting with PC fans, and all i said in my previous post still is valid. Take it or not, is your choice.
I was thinking of using 4 pc fans also it will be the first grow so very new to it. I will prob start with two 150 clfs just to get me feet wet then move up as I go along. I figure I can always keep it as a veg box and then build a bigger one with a 400 hps. Or do you think I am wasting my time with two 150 clf they should put out 16,000 lumens and I think that is equal to a 150hps. Any help or sugestions are very helpful.

By the way, in the same web pag you linked, there is a 12V fan, very silent, cheaper and from 8,7 to 28 dBA. Less flow, but in any case, you will need more than one if you want to use it with a 400wHPS. By the way, the 12v fan consume 1/5 of the 110v one. And you will need a electronic regulator if you want to regulate it, rather than the 12v.
And i insist about axial fan arnt good when ducting is required. Isnt the same 81CFM from an axial fan than from a tubular blower. Any kind of turbulence reduces the fan flow far more than the tubular.
Only trying to apport constructive comments for my experience. I think you must consider first what yield you will need, and design the cab according to that.
I think its far better a 400w HPS than 2 150w CFls. If you want to start with a little setup, to go learning, and use it as veg chamber in the future, its a good idea, but then think in a setup compatible with its future use.
I suggest you to use type L CFLs. They are largely used in veg chambers (veg propagators use them), usually in a setup of 2 of 55w (9600lm). The only change suggested to use it in veg is change the bulb colors, and you can wait the time for they last to change it. You can use 830 color in veg without problem, specially if working with clones. For a setup of 2 55w L CFLs, a axial fan of 80CFM is enough (there are some in the page the image reaper linked). I prefer 12V DC fans because they are easily dimmed and saves watts. Another fan/s between lights and canopy heps alot, moving the air into the chamber and allowing to put lights nearest.
If you are going to use CFLs, dont forget to put them reflectors.
I have a setup with 4 DULUX L 55w, in flower. 19200lm in 5sq ft. 222 watts of consumed power. I grow sog style with them, with very good results. For extraction i use 2 12VDC fans of 80CFM each, one working 24/7 dimmed and the other only with lights on. I yield about 80-90gr of dried buds each 2 months.
Knna, thanks that exactly what I want to do. What you have descriped right now I have 4 pc fans with 2 150 clfs and it 70 degs. I am going to get a dimer or speed control so I can slow them down to get it a little warmer in there. As for yield I would like to get about 8 oz out of two plants on a reg basis of two to 3 months. Its will be a learing experiance but seems alot of fun to grow in the chambers.
