It makes a lot of sense. Certain chemical triggers start the abnormal cell growth of cancer. Since marijuana is a different plant, with a different chemical make up, it doesn't have the same triggers of tobacco -- that sets off this terrible disease.
It's really great they did a study during the lifespan, it gives the study more credit.

i always thought that even know thc distroys cancer the tars from smoking any plant matter leads to cancer
