help please re tds meters
a friend who is setting up her first ever grow has gone and bought a tds meter, now i know nothing about them but know mine goes up and 1 start around 12 upto about 24 when flowering (i think its done on conductivity(?)), she has bought one that is ppm and wants to know how much food she should add. she can't afforsd a new meter yet and is too far from me to lend mine.
i can't find how many ppm she should be feeding her plants on is there a way of converting the conductivity into ppm?
help please re tds meters
PPM...
is she growing hydro?
how old are her plants...
PPM.. should rarely go over 1300-1600... depending on the nutrients you are using and how well you know your plants and where they are at in there growth cycle..
youngsters in hydro... new clones.. freshly rooted.. should start around 200-400....
she needs to watch the tips of the leaves and make sure they do not turn brown...
as she gets more in touch with her plants she will notice that they tuirn a very very dark green when they are getting to much FOOD!!!!!!!!!
iloveyou..
i need more info to get more detailed..
age..
medium...
etc..

help please re tds meters
hiya, thanx,
right she is using a flood and drain system.
started from seeds
in rockwool cubes in clay pebbles
not sure of age exactly but has only just put into system so are about 4-6 inches.
i know using mine (conductivity meter i think)i tend to go 12 during vegative growth rising to 20-24 during flowering so if a comparable idea would be good.
Am going to fone her and tell her to keep it betwen 200 and 400 for now then and to go up to 1300 - 1400 when flowering .
does that sound about right.
will also give her your tips about checking for brown, curls or too dark a green.
Any more help as gratefuly recieved as this
