Iran eyes badges for Jews

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."

The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims.

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

I don't know about this article. I didn't see it on BBC. However I think it is ridiculous that Christians and Jews should wear badges. Radical Islam is a threat to the world too, as is Zionism and fundemental Christianity. The true meaning of Islam is simply to serve God and to serve others.

Remember too that it was the supposed Christians who lynched black people in the 19th century in Amerika. Amerika is supposedly a Christian nation, but yet slavery wasn't abolished until the 1860s!! The KKK is supposedly a Christian nations who hates non-whites. They remind me a fucked up version of the Knights Templar.

I agree..with that kind of thinking at this point in time..especially after what the real Nazis did..how can this happen again? Its not really going to is it? Make them wear a piece of yellow cloth?? At least its not the burning of numbers yet..I ran needs to be stopped..is Israel going to do it?

I would be more concerned about the Amerikans. Afterall, the Iranians recently never tried to invade a country, let alone 2 countries on false pretexts as the Amerikans did.

But its okay to make christians and jews wear colored cloth to identify them? Now that is scary..how do you think those jews feel in Iran? I would get my little behind out now....does that not make you worried that they might actually have a law passed to do this?
