my growcab
Hi guys, its a pleasure to be able to post here. I can't wait to keep you'll posted on my first closet grow. Here's some pictures of my closet, the problem I'm faced with is ventilation. My setup includes 2x 150w HPS lights, 2 30w CFL 6500k, a fan (for now) and a digital thermometer. Heat is a big issue, in my growcab it varys from a low of 84 at night to 110f in the daytime, please help me I've been searching and reading lots, but I'm not sure what type of ventilation I should be using, prefferebly something thats not gonna cost me an arm and a leg,... will pvc pipe and pc fans cool my cab down enough for growing? I'am thinking of using 4 80mm pc fans 2 for intake and 2 for exhast in the main growing chamber,.I will soon disassemble my hps and move the ballast to the top of the cab and cool those seperate. Any comments are greatly appreciated. THanks a million dewds c'ya around I'll keep posting...oh btw I just put the cfl in today the plants have been under the 150w hps for 2 weeks. And a total of 1 week outdoors before the move inside. They are just bagseed, I have some big bug germ'in as we speak, thought I give the cab a test run w/ some bagseed do to the high temps, I know photosyn in these babys is optimal at 74-78degrees, will it hurt to run at in between 80-85, due to the extreme temps around here anyways its hard to cool it down anymore without moving the closet inside(i don't wanna do that).

Thanks for the pictures!
What is the room temperature? (outside your cabnet)
Are you going to start to use an HPS?
That will cause you major heat problems.
If you can keep the temperature at 80-90 degrees with lots of air movement.. LOTS!!! And bring in fresh air..with fresh Co2... you should be fine
keep us posted
cheers

:pimp: well the high was 108 degrees outside. Inside my cab just running the cfl's my temps were: min 84 max 102 20% hum all day. Whats up with the co2 deal I've read a lil about them, are they exspensive to set up,any suggestions as to ventilation on this bad boy? should I use like 4 inch pvc and some 80mm fans will that cool it down as much as I want it? help!!!

Hey ganja rat.
PVC Pipe works great as far as ventilation goes, there are many different pieces you can put together to work with it, almost like giant leggo:D
What CFM is your fan?

Well... Ifyou can not draw cool air from anywhere , you have no chance of cooling it down.. your only hope is to keep the air moving.. It is good that your humidity is low. High humidity in heat is the worst.
Keep the air moving..
draw from the coolest air source you can..
DO you have access to a AC?
: )
How do your plants look?

here's some new pix,..I just added the 150w hps bulb back into the cabinet, I removed the ballast and moved it to the upper area in the cab. The temps w/ door closed are at 105f at 8:00pm.,......hot hot hot!!!!!!!!!! help me I'm melting...anyways hoping to get some 4inch pvc or ventilation duct for a dryer to hook up some 80mm fans for intake and exhaust,..running with the floro's only temp was high of 95f in the hottest time of the day. Had to put the hps back in the mix because my babies need more light!!!!
