I plan on digging a 15x5x2 (length x width x depth) hole, filling that with some sort of plastic, filling that with dirt/pete moss and other nutrient rich dirt, maybe some top soil, and planting my shit in there. I want to do this because I'm growing where there are a lot of roots and shit and I want my seeds isolated and be able to have the best chance to grow big and strong. Will this work?

Ya that is fine...if you want it to grow easy don't forget to add perlite to keep the soil loose so the roots can grow with as little stress as possible.
Balance you Ph while you are at it too.
What you are planning on is similar to growing in pots so treat it the same and you will be fine. I assume you are growing organic.
It will cost some bank to fill a hole that large with good soil mix. You don't think it's better to just dig one hole for each plant and not just one big plot?

Zandor- Well, I planned on filling the hole back in with some of the dirt i dug out of it with. I just want to mix it up as good as possible with pete moss or top soil. Perlite = those little rocks right? How much of that should I buy, and about how much would that cost? Also, how do I balance the PH level?Quote:

I had originally planned on digging one hole for each plant but someone told me it would be better to dig one big hole because of the root problem. Also I don't think I'm going to do the plastic thing anymore, I'll just fill it back in with good dirt/perlite. My reason being is I'm afraid the plastic will stunt the roots growth.

Here's an update on my hole, I worked on it for about 45 minutes today.
P.S. Only one of my seeds has germinated so far (I have about 50-75) and I started them on saturday. Is this normal? If I can't get the dirt/perlite until Saturday but my seeds are germinated by tomorow or Friday, will it be ok to keep them in the paper towels even though they are germinated?
Perlite would cost you about 100 bucks I bet for a hole that size. If you can mix in some sterile cheap (with no nutrients added) with Perlite you would have a great crop. Don't worry too much about the roots the other plants in the area will seek out your nutrients and water on their own. Once the root ball is established the plant will be fine.
It only takes about 12" to establish a good root ball. 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 would be an ok mix to save a buck or 10 but; "If you go cheep you grow cheep"
What you are building is a big outdoor grow pot. Treat it the same way you would treat your plants if they were in grow pots and they will grow fast for you.

Can I use stones/pebbles in replace of perlite? There's piles of them around my neighborhood and that would be so much easier/cheaper then having to buy it.
you don't want to put stones into your garden after spending all that time digging it out! if all you're going to do is 'easy' you probably won't harvest much but if you want a garden that'll produce year after year then do it right and by the book. you can save money by buying hamburgers instead of steak, whole chicken instead of skinless breasts...but don't cut corners on your garden!
