help, always having bad trips now

As far as hallucinogens, ive done shrooms, acid once, ether (maybe not a hallucinogen, but it had that affect on me), and morning glory seeds (yes, this amazingly does work). From my first shroom trip i knew i really enjoted hallucinogens. One time I swear i tripped from smoking some really potent ganje. I thought it was PCP-laced at first, but it turned out not to be after asking some experts i know, and smoking the rest was fine. That was great at first, but it got so harsh and i seriously paniced and felt scared shitless. I gave morning glories a try a few weeks later, and to my surprise it worked extremely well, but my mood was not right or something, so it turned into a state of paranoia and eventually a deep, catatonic depression until the next morning (almost 24 hours later). I figured that if i was in a good mood, i could trip balls on those things, but all my trips on anything turn out really dark now. I want to do hallucinogens for their insight, fun, etc. but now i dont enjoy trips because they always turn bad quieckly, and im really worried that one day I will have one that will shatter my sanity. Any suggestions on what I can do?

I'd say you should cut off for a month at least, and stick to weed for that time. However keep the weed smoking to a minumum and get your brain fully reset into normal mode. Then when and if you go back to hallucinogen's, do them in very low doses (like a single cap for shrooms) and see how things are. you may actually enjoy the lighter trip a lot more if you learn to mentally flow with it and not depend on the substance 100% for the good feelings.

The obvious answer is to stop taking hallucinogenic for a while. Youâ??re obviously not in a mental state to do them. Thinking larger, you might not be a good candidate for hallucinogens in general. If youâ??re seriously worried about permanent damage, stop immediately. Your bad tripping might be stress related, environment related or a great number of things. My advice: take a break.

Ya Im the same way. I get paranoia on pot alone, and salvia was pure terror.

You can't treat trips like it's smoking a bowl, or like doing lines the whole night.

To have a good trip is environment and your state of mind.

Next time you trip, make it something special. On vacation, perhaps a cabin by a lake with friends. Or an empty beach with just your friends. If you are just tripping in your house by yourself, your more likely to have a bad trip, than you are tripping with a bunch of close friends within nature.

I went through the ego-shatter, and it's not fun. Be careful with psychedelics, don't treat them like toys. You don't want something as precious as your mind to become your toy.

I can relate. I heard early on when I first started smoking that you can start getting scary, paranoid trips down the road. The first time I got one was my first knife hit experience and fell on the floor and saw Hell. In hind-sight it's funny as sh*t. :D But at the time I was totally trippin' balls.

Since then when I've gotten high I can feel when the dark-trip starts to creep in. I shake it from my mind and tell myself it would be a waste of money if I let the bad-trip take up most of the effect. When that doesn't work, I take a break for a while. Works like a charm =]
