Spicule - and plant anatomy

Can somebody point me in the right direction regarding SPICULES..

I have no idea myself lol, someone posted asking if it was a female and they though the spicule was a pistille, so i posted a picsture showing him.

One thing I know is they grow on the stem and the pre flowers grow next to them..LOL!!!
What are they for?
