Can I fix my light myself?
I unplugged my light, it's a 400 watt with ballast and hood, and now it doesn't come back on when I plug it in. I've been trying to figure out the problem on my own but I don't know what it is. It is not the bulb, all the wires seem to be connected properly, so I am assuming it is internal. Does anyone know what I can do? I could send it back and the company will replace it but I was hoping to avoid all of the b/s involved in that and fix it myself. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks. :)

Well, did you wait long enough? Sometimes they take a bit to turn fully back on.
Not saying you're impatient but whatever. you get it.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I left it plugged in and it didn't come on all day.

Does your ballast buzz when you plug it in? mine buzzes, if yours doesn't buzz then it may be a problem with your ballast. if it does then it may be the bulb. how long have you had the set-up?

You may of blown the fuse in the plug?

Yes it buzzes, and I know for sure that it is not the bulb because I have several and none of them light up. I am thinking the blown fuse in the plug may be my problem. I have taken apart the ballast and I see no problems there, either. Do I just need to replace the plug and connecting wire? I used it for 4 weeks before this problem and I had to replant outside causing MAJOR stress to the plants but the ones that lived are thriving outside. I need my light, though, because I planned on growing inside all year long. Thank you for answering me, guys.

the ignitor is probably blown, try not to overload the outlet and use a 15 amp timer(grounded) to turn it on and off....bonbon
