Russian MP Predicts Start of War in Iran This Year

The eccentric Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, deputy speaker of Russiaâ??s lower house of parliament, has said the war in Iran would start â??this yearâ?�.

Zhirinovsky, who became well-known for outrageous statements on Russiaâ??s foreign policy, said on Thursday that a military operation would start with air raids followed by â??land operationsâ?�. He also suggested that international troops sent into mountainous Iran would suffer greater losses than coalition troops did in Iraq, RIA-Novosti news agency reported.

Zhirinovsky did not say however what reasons had prompted his predictions.
