Correct me if i am worng but Metal Halide bulbs work in Mecury vapor ballasts??
Not sure myself, but i wouldnt bother, just get an mh ballast.
The reason i ask is home depot sells 175 mecury vapor lamps for $20 and then you can purchase 175watt Metal Halide bulbs for $25...so a 175watt Metal Halide system for $50....i know people have done it....or so i read on the internet....
Try it out... let's see how it goes... :)
Be sure to post pics!
I'm no electrician, but mis-matching ballasts to bulbs regardless of wattage sounds risky to me.
Just stay close to home, lol
kind of unrelated but...notice what time authorities showed up.

MV and MH are basically the same thing except for some gas and metal coating i believe....well i have tried it and it looks like it was a waste of my freakin time....oh well worth a try! it would been nice though just think 340w MH complete with ballace for $107...
BTW: that is funny as hell they got there at 4:20! i bet that was one good smelling fire...peace
why? was it a waste of time?
Well I could not get them to work...i have heard about this being done on the internet and it looks like someone did a DIY on this on Overgrow but as everyone knows there is no more overgrow...if i could get this to work it would be great...that is really cheap lighting....
You can use it in it . I have MV/MH low bay fixture that supose to hang in a wharehouse..It does work , im using it right now . A sticker on my ballast says its for MV/MH/400W/H33/M59 bulbs...if that helps at all....peace
What did it do for you to think it wont work ? Was the light dim? If so , give a couple min. to get fully charged up , bulb has to be hott to be the brightest...lol
