will it die?

my friend has a plant in his back yard he planted in late july and it has no buds yet and is about 1.5 feet tall, the frost is comin soon and he just wants to rip it up and try next year, but i was wonderin if the plant is gonna die or just lose its leaves and "hibernate" like trees and shit so that next year it will start growin again

it will die, cannabis grow very like tomatoes.

I would just leave it in the ground to see if it buds at all and wait it out before you destroy it. Who knows, you could get some nice buds off of it and if nothing else you can just use parts to cook with and stuff and get something from it.
