Yes, they say he was more Jesus' trusted friend than thought.
this only proves one thing: that there was infighting among Christians over how to promote their religion more effectively.
The gnostic gospels were studied way back when the Bible was being canonized. They were rejected because they were not in harmony with the rest of the text. They in fact contradicted major issues. Also, they were written hindreds of years after the fact. For example, the gospel of Judas was written in the 3rd century, long after the Christ was crucified and Judas committed suicide.
They are an interesting glimpse into the history of the church tho.
It isn't simply an addition to help premote the religion, in many cases it's just a flat out contradiction. I could easily go the opposite direction and say this gosple only shakes the faith of current believers.Quote:

you misunderstood what I said. I meant that they were arguing about Christianity 1,800 years ago, over how to promote it more effectively, since most of the world at that time was still pagan. That's whay they chose the canonical Gospels, thaat books int he Bible, etc, to make the religion as appealing as possible. In other words, marketing.Quote:
