First Grow (cheap&CFL)

well time to stop trolling the boards and time to start. ive grown before under a 300 watt HPS and some seeds from nirvana came out nice but was a real drag because it was just in my closet. It was quite hard to hide and i know you really need to be shush when you grow but drunk roomates love to showoff the mary jane. so this is kinda a stealth grow but im not too worried about it.

Basically im going to need some help.
setup:

two rubbremaid tubs (round&stacked) 21" dia x 42 inch
150 watt CFL (total)
soil

so i got 7 beans in there now germinated with a paper towel. there was only a little tail breaking out of em but i put in in 12oz cups 1/4" deep. i watered a little just to get the soil moist and put em n there new ghetto home. right now the two lights are about 2.5 " from the cups.. should i move em up a little? temps are 84 F and abot 30% humidity.

i still need to insert fans and get a new PSU since my old one doesnt work anymore :( im planning on puttin one on the bottom and prop up the box a little for a intake fan. put two more on the sides blowing new air in and then a bigger fan on top for exhaust.. that sound good for airflow or i need more fans?


cant wait for these babies to get a sprout so i can add some more lights.. hopefully ill have the fans and everythng all done before tommorow night with more pics.

oh and kids dont play with fireworks..not only does it hurt but it hinders your work speed when you have to wrap em up like the hamburger helper! :(

1st, Safety man... wow, your hand shot... ouch....

2nd... your light... that's it?

As your grow progresses, you should add more of those bulbs... don't be shy... add as many as your budget and space will permit.

3rd, What do you plan to do when the plants grow? Are you going to transplant them to bigger pots?

yeah that was quite the night when that happened but its one of thsoe WTF was i thinking kinda moments.
i only have those two on it and thats it until they pop up cause i didnt know if yoju could over do it? ill prolly take the 4 that start out the best. once they get bigger i will transplant them into one of those nice 2liter wick systems.. i have 4 of those 30 watt lights and a 42 watt light that is a different spectrum... i guess its a "energy saving" one.. so i dunno if that will even benefit. thats a total of 150watts for veg then ill switch over to the 2700 k bulbs and prolly get at least 220 watts for flowern. what do you suggest for the ratio of spectrums during flowering? mostly 2700 k or half and half? i wanna LST then SCROG them. hopefully i can keep em low and bushy.. specially with LST. any good links for LST growing?? glad to have ya stop by turtle .. keep me close as ima need some pointers :D :thumbsup:

Maybe you can keep a close eye on them, and hope they show pre-flowers quickly (5-6weeks?????)... then, you can pull the males... and leave the females.

Or maybe you can 12/12 them a little later on (when they have alternating nodes), watch for sex on them all, then pull your males, stay with your females, and switch back to 18/6 again.... or 24/0 again...

With such a space, I think you should flower VERY early... how early??? I wouldn't want to say... GARDEN KNOWM!!! Input, please! Ask him, he'll know...

Another thing is, that if you start a SCRoG, and you start weaving the plants into the screen, and you flower, IF you find males, you're going to fuck-up the "green" part of your SCRoG when you remove the males. So, for SCRoG, it's best to make sure you have females. I opinate. (lol)

As to the lights and Kelvins... I don't know. I really don't have info on that... I know that lights have the different colors of light (temperatures), but I have no idea.

turtle420 how early can i start the 12/12 to get the sex? i was actually just thinking if i could get a female i could put ikt in another cab i have that is 1x1x3 and use it for a momma then basically do a mini SOG and only let the plants get a foot tall then flower em. eventually gettin on a cycle to harvest every 3 weeks or somethin.. i dunno maybe im just thinking crazzzzy.

what exactly is needed for a momma cab? how do you keep it from growing and make it level off? any input is appreciated.

i have a PSU and when i plug it in... nothing happens!? the ps fan doesnt even start up. i am forsure this is a good PSU cause i just went and bought a new one and itdoes the same thing. when i plug it into an old mobo of mine the little green light lights up so i know there is power going through it... am i really just retarded or is there something else i need? i need a quick reply as im getting ready to go out of town for a few days and i wanna finish this thng up!! HELP pleeease!!

92 F 45% humidty (def doesnt feel hot in there whatsoever so i think my gauge is off?)

here are some pics of cab half done (still have light leaks and i wanna get a some sort of silencer for that intake fan... anyoen got any ideas?

You have to take pin 14:
PS_ON Wire Color1 green Color2 - grey and ground it for the PS to come on.

Any of the black wires are ground, pin 3,5,7,13,15.. either 14 to 13 or 15 jump would fire it up! GL
