Yeah well I've been thinking about my growing and everything and the roots are something that I've been concerned about and I just realized why I wouldnt put a seedling in a bigger pot lol...anyways I was wondering is there anyway to tell if my roots are too big for the pot I have it in?
yeah there is once the roots start coming out the holes in the bottom of the pot then its time to repot and always get a pot that hasent any ridges down the sides cause if ya plant gets rootbound it will be hell to get it out of the pot without breaking roots off

Another way to know is if your not stressing your plants in any other way and, they seem to have not grown for weeks on end you are prolly root bound.
Let me explain "root bound" for you in case your confused root bound is where your roots have run out of room in their search for more room to get bigger, In turn you roots begin to go in every which direction untill they get tied in knots.. by then your plant will not be growing anymore and sometimes your leaves will turn yellow I think.

ROOTS COMING OUT THE BOTTOM DOES NOT MEAN THE PLANT IS ROOTBOUND! ive seen tap roots come out the drainage holes 2 days after a repot. when the plant growth slows and the new branches seem to be growing right next to the main stem instead of spreading out these are signs of being rootbound as well as the lower growth dying off in extreme cases and also needing to water every day. don't worry about roots coming out the bottom that means nothing imo.Quote:

i was just trying to stress that if the roots are coming out the bottom it doesn't necessarily mean you have to transplant. i have seen newbies get really nervous about plants being rootbound because of a few taproots sticking out the bottom. i wasn't trying to say you were wrong just to look at more than one factor to decide if the plant is becoming rootbound. sorry if i offended.
