By removing the mail cola between the 4th & 5th node in early vegetation stage will keep the plant shorter and bushier. This works to keep the plants shorter thus better for indoor growing. You can grow in cabinets and still yield a pound or more with a SCOG method of growing. The main cola contains the anit-oxidant that controls height and other factors of the plant. (Think of it as the controller) when you remove the control everything is running on their own clock and time, but still moving in the same directions.(simple version) The lower braches will have time to grow and catch up with the rest of the branches and the yield will increase accordingly.

you claim the main cola to be the main controller ..... when the plant gets tied down at the 4th node the top is now the the same height as the rest of it, as the plant grows, if you can maintain the top and side chutes at the same height, the side chutes become colas and the density of ALL the colas looks the same........ has the plant simply focused all its energy equally into each cola, being confused as to where the original MAIN cola is??
i have treid this several times in the past ... proving it very effective with phenominal results.... NEVER putting the ladies undre the knife ....
just trying to back my theory here ..... i do agree that the plant focuses on the primary cola but am i really "confusing" the plant??

Well I did not make that up it's been known in the science of botany for about 20 years. You crop the plant early on in the veg cycle and the plant has plenty of time to recover. There is only one mail cola. sure the side shoots can catch up but they are only searching for light. When you tie them down you are doing LST not cropping. All you are doing is bending the branches. There has been only one plant that I have seen and believed yielded a pound grown in a closet. Most closet grows are giddy & happy if they only get 4-6 ounces out of a plant.

I'm not positive what your exact question is?

If you crop think in terms of the plant no longer has a branch in charge and the rest of the branches fight for the light together. Does that help?

Yes it does zandor, thank you very much for your time, and i hope you werent offended by the questoin as it was only in my search of knowledge that i asked the questoin as my moto is if you dont ask you dont learn, and i was giddy and happy with mt 4 oz long ago lol, thank you for responding to my questoin, i have another if you dont mind
At what stage in veg do you recomend topping , you say early in veg but how early im thinking 2 weeks is this to early and how long would the plant need to recover before going into flower.thanks again, the postman.

You need good root growth so the plant will recover faster. Croping is best done in mid veg cycle so the plant can have time to recover before you switch it to flower. Not all plants are happy whey you crop them either btw.

Not all plants are good when you crop? Ice? White Widow X Big Bud? Northern Lights X Big Bud?
