Germinated Seeds
I just planted three Papaya seeds and three Northern Lights, the Papaya germinated much quicker then the Northern Lights. The tap root started to turn a green/brownish towards the seed, do you think they are dead or is that just what happens? Heres a low quality picture.

yea dude if you have em in dirt now you should be fine. As sheist said that green/brown you started to see indeed was a beggining of a stem.

Germinated Seeds
when you put the germinated seeds in the soil do you put that white stem part facing up towards the top of the soil or down towards the bottom? that white part is the stem correct??

Germinated Seeds
the white part that comes out first is the root, so it should go down.
Plant your seeds as soon as they sprout the first signs of a taproot. You don't want the taproot very long, as it's extremely delicate and damaging it in early stages of growth can kill or severely stunt the plant. Germenation outside of your grow medium is merely to make sure that they pop their shells and helps to pick out the week seeds, not to make it grow a hugeass root.
