Could somebody please help me with a word-processor problem?

Hi all, I'm just having this stupid problem with my Abiword that I get once in a while, same thing happens with Microsoft Word too. I'm sure others here have had to feel this pain lol. I really need to get this fixed though because I'm working on an assignment for school that's due soon.

So I'm having this problem with fixing spelling errors in word. Here's an example:

I write the word "Hat", but I meant to write "Hit". So I Delete the "a" from "hat" and insert an "i" and it replaces the next letter over, so I end up with "hi" rather than "hit".

Try pressing 'insert' next to scroll lock
