Are you talking about chat? And mailing? -who are you mailing ... or is that about something else...?

If reinstalling your computer, you need to be sure you have the latest install CDs (you'll likely have to order it), otherwise your computer will be reinfected, likely within seconds.

Another way is to reinstall as usual, but then put the major adware/virus scanners on asap - some stuff will sneak through that way though; fresh install from the *latest* manufacture's CDs while *disconnected* from the net is best.
