Can someone tell me what was that drug that thompsons character was taking near the end?????? I think i remember hearing it was pure adrenaline or something like that and then i heard it wasnt even real, someone wanna clarify this?

I read an article about Hunter S. Thompson and adrenaline back when he died, there was a cool story about when he intentionally blew up a car at a party in someone's backyard... then as everyone was running around panicking as flaming engine parts rained down on them, he said:
