Prob only 2 plants im limited on space
Check out some CFL grows
Compact Fluorecent Lighting is cheap, low on heat and space conservative..
They come in both blue and red spectrum so they can be used from seed to harvest.
The search button is handy... check out some CFL grows.
Oh, if you're limited in space and you're willing to spend some money on a light, go HPS. A nice 150w or 200w unit would do nice for two plants -- throw in a couple daylight spectrum CFLs during vegetative and replace them with a couple 42w warm white CFLs during flowering. With the CFLs working in unison with the HPS, you can't go wrong.
Always remember -- the fewer lights to have to fuck with the better when dealing with small grow spaces.
go to WalMart and buy yourself some CFLs ... until you are acclimated, and know how deeply you want to get into growing, avoid the HPS and MH lights ... without proper knowledge, and maintenance, you can burn your house down ... you will have enough to learn about growing without worrying about the ventilation and cooling requirements of the big lamps ... I personally have grown since 1976, and still only use a large bank of flourescents ... I don't get the huge yields I could have with the sodiums, but I also have none of the worry or hassle ... and since I can legally grow only 6 plants at a time, I go for Quality, not Quantity ... :rasta:
well looks like some cfls are my best bet. How many watts is good enought for 2 plants also if i start them in a big pot would that be ok or should i start them in a small pot and transplant?
also The seeds im using are from some high mids i got (basically good stickey shit with seeds). I live in the us soo i have no way of getting quality strains i guess i just gotta cross my fingers
I would highly suggest using MH for veg and HPS for flowering. Like image reaper said, CFL's will make for a much smaller harvest. HIDs are just as easy to use, and the only way to burn down your house is by doing a crappy job hanging your light and it falls, or if you place something flammable right on top of your ballast. Just use thick bolts, a chain, and some common sense and you'll be fine.
Some people, like image reaper, use CFL's because it suits their needs and purpose. You should use CFLs if you have a very small grow area OR high temperatures will be a problem OR you don't care about the size of your harvest. Otherwise, HID is the way to go!
Good luck, happy growing!
