Opium?

I was wondering if anyone has tried Opium? I've been living/working in northern India for the past couple of years, and opium is easily avaliable here, just like hash and pot :). But I tried some form of it which you actually don't smoke but eat, it looks just like hash and goes by the name of affeem (spelling?). I had a really nice and cool high. It's wasn't like pot where your like, "ohh shit I'm high", but more like, "hey, I'm high." It fealt really mellow and really relaxed my body. By the way, I live in the banks of the himalayas and just got my dig. camera, so I'll try posting pictures of pot just growing naturally all over the place which is common in the himalyan region.
