I'm all for treating animals kindly. Heck, I'm even a vegetarian. But I cannot stand PETA and their intolerance to anyone who doesn't believe the same thing they do. They support people who use violence to get their point of view across, and that's called terrorism. It's giving us vegetarians a bad name. If you want to shut down the meat and fur industries, fine, go ahead and try to convince other people of that. I don't think it's a realistic goal, but whatever. Just don't support people who burn down animal research labs simply because they're not falling into line with your beliefs. Try to actually convince people with words that fur and meat is wrong. Go ahead; try to convince the Eskimos that they should all give up seal meat and polar bear hides, and see if they starve or freeze first. But it's not okay to blow up their igloos because they have a different diet than you, is it?

I have often thought, If the world were to become all vegetarians, what would happen to the thousands of cows bread for their dairy products and meat? What would happen to the millions of chickens? They would all be killed most likely, and what would happen to all the grazing cattle land? Most likely sold to be turned into shopping centers, Some would be converted to fields for crops sure, but alot wouldent. Being a dairy farmer is MUCH different than growing crops. Many farmers wouldent be able to afford the switch, farmers have a steady life style but are in debt half the year and rich the other half, its like a cycle.

I agree with most of what oneironaut said , except for the quote above . Meat is not wrong , it is a food source for humans and has been since the year dot , humans are carnivores . Its not wrong to eat meat , many animals themselves survive on diets of meat , so I have to disagree with you on that one !

To oniernaught, you think fighting for anarchy is a worthy cause and realistic and trying to convince people eating meat is wrong and futile?

And im pretty sure, inuit tribes dont walk around wearing polar bear hides much anymore
