Good indoor strain?

A few questions:
1. Any suggestions on a good strain for indoor growing? It can't be too tall. I read that northern lights is good (5 feet or so max) but that might be too tall. Anyone know of a strain that will flower well but remain under three feet? Or is there anyway I can stop it from growing taller with no negative effects to the plant?
2. Whats the best light to use when heat is a very major issue? Flourescent? Also, when there isn't much heat present, is air circulation still as important?

Just dont veg for a long time if you switch ur lighting from 18/6 or 24(veg)hours of light to 12/12(flower)when they are about 1 foot tall you should be fine, they should only grow to be about 2ft tall, they should double from VEG to the end of flower.
Or is there anyway I can stop it from growing taller with no negative effects to the plant?
Just TOP or LST your plants and you should be fine TOPing is when you cut a piece of the top main stem and it usually shoots out 2 more main colas, this makes the plant also remain short and bushy. LSTing is when you tie down ur plants with string or wire to keep it short.2.

HIDs r best but do cause lots of heat but you can use lots of fans to reduce it

Can't lose with northern lights. Also have a look at Biggie Small (Doc Chronic). Main thing is to pick an Indica, or mostly Indica. Make sure don't switch from veg to flower too late or you may get too much height.

Rather than topping, I would suggest bending (LST), at least on your first grow. Topping is fine but it really works better with clones in my experience. Also some strains respond better to topping than others, and I assume that on a first grow you want things to "just work". Topping will also slow your plants down some as they recover, while bending does the opposite. Bending will encourage side branching...which will also be good for later if you decide to clone.

Use CFL's. not just regular Flo's....but only if you really can't manage a HID. It's really not that hard to run a 400W HID even in a 2'x2' closet.
