Need advice on spiritual use of hallucinogens, and fasting
Hello again my friends :) . Right now I have 2 mid-terms, one tomorrow and one the next day. things have been stressfull, or perhapse overwhelming would be the more appropriate word.
After a good deal of thought, I've realized that to get my life in order and reach the inner peace I've wanted to attain for so long, I need to seriously work at getting back to my spirituality. Ever since getting into college, and a month of just general laziness immediately before that, I've really lost track of my spiritual practices. I still meditate, but it's fallen to only about 1-2 times a week, and generally cramming facts into my head has been my main concern.
So, this weekend I would like to get to work remedying all that. I have a large woodland area by a long stream just 3 blocks from my house (where I've been running the for the past week). I would like to go there and spend a whole day in meditation, excercise, contemplation, and mental exploration.
If any of you have some advice on a good psychadelic for spiritual insight, I would love to hear it. Right now I'm considering mushrooms, since they're the only drug outside cannabis I've tried (once) , and I found it to be quite a significant experience.
also, do any of you have some opinions/experience/information on fasting? I know a lot of cultures have used fasting during meditation and the such, but I honestly don't (as-of-yet) understand how self-inflicted malnutrition and carbohydrate/protein exhaustion can help the mind. I may actually just bring fruit with me and stick to that, but I'm curious to know more :) .

similar to taking a drug, fasting causes changes in the physical body. Which causes changes in our perceptions of the sensory... but mind? If there was something (nothing?) to the mind that was not physical then it would remain unchanged by physical changes.
What is it that remains unchanging from moment to moment? Regardless of substance?
If you want, try not eating for the day... Or perhaps not eating for the morning and then enjoying a piece of fruit late in the afternoon before going home for dinner. What if that piece of fruit was all you had?
I think fasting is a good practice to use sparingly. At least, speaking for myself. Can't forget that there actually IS a physical body, even if it's not everything...
And it's not like it's going to hurt you to go one day without a full belly... Millions of people do it all the time.

From my own experiences drugs open the mind to what is beyond & fasting opens the path to the inner.
The longer without food the clearer you become until nothing remains :o

Didnt fully read it..didnt need to so hopefully im not missing somthing.
Embrace silence, have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing, you cant give away what you dont have, embrace silence, give up ur personal history, you cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it,there are no justified resentments, treat urself as if you are what you want to be, treasure ur divinity, WISDOM IS AVOIDING ALL THOUGHTS THAT WEAKEN YOU peace.

Very true advice Pureevil760, but all of which is the core of buddhist practice, and all of which I have been fully familiar with for a long while. However I am glad to see you understand at least this aspect of existence. Do you meditate?
