do u mean planting it, letting it grow some, adding soil ?? If so I do this only during the very early days of growth "1week" to make for better "support"
I also do the same- soil tends to drop after some time and needs topping up. But as TheBrains said - only really recommended in the early stages
I think I see your idea...Quote:

I guess it'll work, but plants grow mega-roots on their own. I've seen impressive root balls in 5gallon DWC setups...
But give it a go... let's see how it goes...
this is going to be amazing. you have no idea :D !!!! keep an eye out for my experiment, i'll put some posts up (hopefully within the next couple of weeks, according to my current grow):p
best of luck to you, ill put a prayer in ;p
WHat you should do, is make a few small nicks up along the stem that will be underground soil after topping up, and rub some rooting hormone gel onto it, it will help giv the plant extra momentum in getting new roots started, but Just have your lights off for a few hours each day instead of 24/0 because roots tend to grow more in the dark, the energy of growing from the top of the plant becomes a little more concentrated down below.
Hence why some people swear by 18-22 hours of light.
