Archaeologists Unearth Tomb on Crete
Archaeologists have unearthed a tomb belonging to a Roman-era family on the island of Crete. The structure dates back to the 1st or 2nd century A.D. and is located beside one of the main gates to the city of Aptera. The tomb's size and location indicate that the 4 people buried there were very prominent citizens. The tomb was apparently looted during Christian times, but archaeologists still found lamps, vases, and statues of Eros inside.
