i always thought the thc had to be cooked before it was active.

Be careful when eating bud. The crystal on the bud is very sharp, and can slice open your stomach linning, but in large amounts that is..My wife's addiction teacher told that to her class, could be bull shit who knows?

Well has anybody seen that Cheech and Chong movie where they go to Amsterdam and are eating marijuana salads on the river?

I have toasted fresh bud and gotten a high of sorts. It is never as good as it will be after drying and curing. It also burns the lungs with all the chlorophyl. The THC needs to be heated to be released. Doubt if you will get a high from just a green bud.
