Making Cannabudder for the first time, need some help!!!

Ok everyone, I'm making cannabudder for the first time. I have 3.5 grams of shake from some nice dro and 3.5 of the same buds. I'm gonna grind it all up in a coffee grinder and then melt 1 cup (1 stick) of butter. Then I'm gonna add the powder and simmer on low for 15 minutes. Then I'm gonna strain it with cheesecloth. Does this sound about right to everyone? Is the ratio good? I want some pretty banging budder so I hope so. And most importantly, how much should I eat? I hear it takes about 3 hours for full affect. Any feedback or past experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.
