Well with a lack of light they wouldnt do too good. But as it can be done the best that can be suggested is just to pick a place in the woods that allows big portion of light that the trees dont take.
I use a chainsaw and get rid of anything blocking light. lol
You have to be creative when you do it because, to someone in a heli flying over, a big hole in the middle of a forest looks a little off. I use natural clearings and cut into a side of them. I leave enough scrub in front to form a wall off from the rest of the clearing and that keeps hikers uninterested in looking over there. I also have cacti and any debris I can find placed around. I grew a crop once on some abandoned train tracks directly behind a walmart supercenter. It was great. I had to cut some of the branches that hung over my plants but along the tracks it didn't look out of place. I have a polaroid of my plants at harvest with the walmart right behind em. I should try to digitize it.
