Smoker-friendly venue list
As a fan of both live music and marijuana, it only makes sense to combine the two. My main problem is that sometimes I'll go see a band somewhere I've never been before and don't know if it's a good idea to bring some weed. I'd eventually like to get a HUGE database of smoker-friendly venues around the US, or the world if we have enough non-USers who would contribute.
Anyway, if you like live music, post all the smoker friendly venues you can remember. Obviously, the type of music is going to effect the amount of smoking going on. Use common sense and be careful about busting out a doobie at a Backstreet Boys show even if the venue is listed here.
Try to post as much information as possible for now. We'll see if this idea flies. I'll start with:
Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA, USA. As of 12/31/05-01/01/06 smoking seemed okay just about anywhere inside. I didn't see any busts, and searches seemed to be limited to an old lady who pats you down before you go in. My pockets were full, but she didn't ask to see what I had, so maybe just a formality. Backpacks were being checked, but I'm not sure if the people I saw had weed or pipes in their backpacks, and I'm not sure what would have happened if they did.
Arco Areno in Sacramento, CA, USA. Don't remember the exact date. Summer 2005. Lots of smoking in the "pit". None in the hallways. Didn't see any busts. Police were present out front, bags were seached, and they used a metal detector "wand" but no pat down or pocket check.

I was just at the Aragot Ballroom in chicago, and they really didnt care about shit. I think that most places now a days are just going to lightly pat you down to make sure you dont have any knives/guns/ect... Other than that, I would just find a nice little spot for your stash before going into shows. Pre-rolled joints always work, or also hiding your piece and whatever else in your shoe. Another venue that doesnt really care is Alpine Valley. Again, I'm pretty sure most people are concerned with weapons and shit, and not out to bust pot smoking teenagers.

Ziggy's in Winston Salem, NC. Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, NC could really care-less, but if you're hitting a 4 footer they'll have to say something prolly.

Phish broke up two Augusts ago.
Madison Square Garden and Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC are real lax on toking.
The Bandshell at Prospect Park in Brooklyn is VERY chill. I've smoked in front of and sometimes even WITH security.

No, he's serious. Millions of people are flocking to South America to take extreme hallucinagens and kill themselves for the real farewell concerts of all those bands!

I saw Dave like July 24th of last year at Alpine. Was fucking amazing, except for the music. OAR opened so it was good, but god Dave is so overrated I cant stand it. So many other artists out there that are worth the time.
