Hello to all I've been an avid reader of you all for about a year now just recently decided to post but I wated a little feedback on my project just to see how Im doing and to consume more valuable info my setup is this
1000 watt hps sytem
1 plant of unknown orgin that is now 2 months old still in veg
a 4ft force field of mylar setup
1 fan intake bringing fresh air in
1 exhaust fan pull old air out
steady room temp at 77 day and about 72 night
my light is about 1 1/2 ft away from my baby can I go closer!?
In extension I also have a 250 hps that I started my plant with before upgrading a month ago should I use that to start my seedlings with cuz I tried to start about ten for a good first grow but after all seeds poppin in germ. only one broke soil?
please help !

setup sounds good but...1 plant??? hope its a female...if out of 10 that sprouted only your one broke soil then your germination technique was most likely flawed take special attention not to touch the tap root once theyve germinated and only burry them with just alilttle soil over them and the taproot facing down keep in mind they double/tripple size in flower and also i read in somewhere in here that usually the first to sprout and fastest to grow are usually the males of a bunch so dont count your eggs before they hatch maybe to much heat dryed up the germinated seeds as well make sure the soilmedium is saturated with just a sprinkle of dry soil over the planted seeds...get to germinating A.S.A.P.! best of luck

1000 watts of HID for one plant seems like a waste of light to me. I would use the smaller light for just the one plant. I would also start flowering ASAP. Some plants such as the sativa dominant strains could triple in height by the time theyre finished.
1 1/2' from the tops of the plants is about right. The closer you can get the light without burning the tops of the plants the better because light intensity diminishes quickly the farther away from the source you get. 18" from a 1000 watt light is perfect IMO.
As far as your germination success rate, I still stand by the old tried and true method of planting the seeds directly into the large pot that they will live out their lives in. A large pot of soil with no roots in it stays moist for a long time and helps germinate the seeds. Plus you don't have to handle popped seeds and possibly damage the young roots.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help I also agree 1 plant for 1000watts is is waste of light. I started the one plant under the 250 hps and then decided to go hard so I upgraded my light to a 1000 watter and purchased some seeds. the problem is all my seeds pop in germination but once put in soil only a one pushed thru dirt up until today. now I have the one plant as shown and three seedlings and not to sure if I should put the seedlings under the 250 or the 1000. I wasted two packs of seeds in my opinion being out of 25 I only have three seedlings and was wondering if I was having problems but I was putting them under the 1000watt light? also all my seeds are femmi so thats some bucks down the drain and kinda frustrated but thats comes in every sport.
Love all the help I can get thanks

you must get bigger pots.for two months in veg they are small.do you use the paper towel method for germ cuz it works flawlessly.femenized seeds are a waste of cash.just get the regular seeds and clone.

here's your answer.........is your light sealed in a reflector, with a glass lens? If so, get some vent flanges for the reflector and hook up some cool air/exhaust tubing to your light,CAUTION! use only spring and foil type vent tubing in case your exhaust fans stopped running for any reason, some cheap dryer vent tubing will melt and burn.
