My BALLS Foat!!!!! HELP ME GOD!!
:D
This is a troubling time in my household!!
I've just tested my Ebb/Flow table with CLAY HYDRO BALLS...and most unexpectedly ...they float.
Have I purchased the wrong BALLS???
This means that when the table is flooded ,the balls will rise and sink thereafter ...
Does this not disrupt the roots...?
Will the plant not become unfooted and topple?
Do your BALLS float?

Yes, I have noticed the floating action of the hydroton balls. Switch to gravel or lava rock. People who use hydroton have them in pots and usually drip or have the water flow through them. Perlite and pumice will float too. Just change your medium.

You can get some garden netting and place it on top of the grow rocks and don't fill the water level that high. Lower you overfill drain a bit and you will not have the problem.

I've thought about lowering it but I'm wooried about the water level not rising enough to saturate the whole root mass ....is it essential to soak the whole root ball? For instance NFT systems don't soak all of the roots?
