How can I use co2 without causing odor?

Hereâ??s the problem: youâ??re running co2. So your exhaust is turned off for long periods of time. Youâ??re flowering. Obviously, with no exhaust the odor will quickly fill your house and next be smellable from outside.
Iâ??ve heard ozone generators are harmful to plants (and humans) so canâ??t have one in the growroom to stop odor at the sourceâ?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦
Do people that run co2 just allow their house to reek?? Controllers turn the fans on periodically â?? but donâ??t do anything about the smell thatâ??s been seeping/accumulatinge in your house (outside your room).
I have a friend with an expensive setup â?? air-cooled lights, co2, co2/fan controller, carbon filterâ?¦â?¦. You canâ??t smell his house down the block, but when I get within 2 feet of his front door I can definitely smell it, not to mention inside the house.
Anywhere near that high level is not a possibility for me (at present using filtered exhaust, always on/constant suction, zero odor even if you put your nose up to the growroom door). Is there a way to leave the exhaust off (for the co2) and still have that low odor?

Hows your grow doing without the CO2 ?I've been wondering this same thing cause I want to get CO2.But I'm going to run my shit just like you(a filtered exaust fan on constantly)
I found a suggestion that said sync your timers to exaust 30 minutes and shuts off,then CO2 comes on for a half hour and shuts off in time for the exaust to come back on this happens all day during the light cycle and at night I think they turned the exaust off .But I don't remember what they did at night with the CO@(Maybe left it on to get to the optimum level for flowering since the dark period is when alot of thc and general flower is produced.)This is what I'm guessing.But smell would still be an issue I think.I guess it depends on how long it takes to stink up the house.

co2 can not be used during the dark .It does no good you have to have HID lights for it to work, no floruo's. You can exhaust all you want in the dark. The only way to cut down on smell is to be air tight and an air lock entry door system. I want to go co2 but the money is holding me back right now. I'm just finishing up a small flower room and the ehaust is not what I want but will live with it for now.

ok for one thing co2 barely has a smell if you can smell it in your house your burning it for far too long and id say the same with your friend. another thing i dont think ozonators are bad for plants they help keep bacteria in the air kept to a minimum and yes they are harmful to ppl just shut it off when you go in the room now for the co2 burner itself i will depend if your burning propane or natural gas to create your co2
one may smell more than the other i havent been able to notice maybe im just used to it but i doubt it nobody ever asks me whats that smell when i have ppl over so my guess is they are running it for far too long i have all the gadgets as well and what i use is a light sensor/timer you can set it for how long to run for and set the frequency that it comes on in my room i run it for 12 minutes on out of every 30 minutesso 12 on 18 off but it will vary depending on your room size if you ask me if you dont know what your doing i wouldnt bother messin with it lol newb

I think that you're in a very similar situation to mine...

The only solution I see?:::
You've got to seal up your grow room dude.
No more exhaust fans, so the temperatures stay low.

So, if you have no exhaust, you need a a/c unit in there... so you can keep the right temps.
And if you've got an a/c unit in there, hell, place a dehumidifier or a humidifier (whichever you need) while you're @ it.

As Z says, you'll want to raise the CO2 ppm to 1800 for about 3 hours... then evacuate all the air from the room.

Then, start over again with the 3 hours and 1800ppm.

Of course, now that you've got an a/c in there, you need to figure out a way to exhaust the hot air coming from the back of the a/c unit.

!!!!! But don't be put off dude! All these things, I plan on doing in the future... for this grow, I'll do it without the a/c. But the next ones? I'll go CO2, a/c, dehumidifiers, full room control through computer... etc.

Surrey B.C.: Thanks for the reply. But I didn't mean the odor of co2 (didn't know there was one), I meant 'THE' odor -- as a result of having no fan/filter running.

I guess that has never been an issue with me so I never noticed. My rooms are sealed to hold in the CO² and the carbon scrubbers deal with any odor so I never gave it a thought. The idea is to hold the CO² in and if it gets out then you room or area is not sealed. Find the leak and fix it so you don't waist the CO².
