Need growing advice!

Hey guys! :)

I'm growing a plant in my garden right now from a seed that my mate gave me. Unlike his, my parents don't care whether I grow or not so it's actually gotten pretty big in the time i've had it (month and a half)!

Here's the big question. Is it smokable? Unfortunately I don't have a digicam but i'll take some pictures with my friend's and post them up soon, but until then i'll just describe it.
Basically it's growing like crazy and is a little more then a third of a metre tall. It has leaves growing all over it, eachone about 14cm long and 9cm wide on average. The thing is me and my friends have sampled the leaves on several occasions and have had different results. One time we got no effect, another time we got about 4/10 on the stoned factor and last time when me and my mate Dan the Pirate had some, I was badly ill for a couple of days and so havn't touched it since. Here are the important factors of when we use it:

1. We don't dry it out properly, we just lay the leaves out on a sheet of kitchen foil and leave it in my Aga oven until they are dried up and crispy. I'm well aware this isn't how it should done properly but we do it like that anyway.
2. We only have the leaves, it hasn't bud yet.
3. We don't know whether it's male or female!

I'm aware there's a lot of things i'm probably not doing but the fact is the plant is growing great. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can tell what gender it is, whether it's smokable or not and if so, when the fudge is it gonna bud (if at all) and how should I go about drying it out?

First of all that is your problem there. You don't smoke the leaves, as they don't contain much THC at all, they are a waste, unless they are clippings from a harvested plant that have tricomes at the base. You are going to have to wait until the days get shorter and the plant begins to flower to tell the sex. Go to www.overgrow.com and do a lot of studying on the cannabis plant and growing. If it is a female, you need to have patience and let it mature. Don't just pick the first buds you see. Study study study is the best advice I can give you. :)

hahahaha, well we all had to start learning somewhere you know. I remember when I didn't know anything about cannabis at all. Yes I even thought you just smoked the leaves, I had no clue. But once I did start learning, things started to make a whole lot more sense, and now I am addicted to studying cannabis! I am always trying to teach people about what I am constantly learning so they can cultivate also. I am not an expert, but I do like to pass on what I have learned and that means having patience with people and answering their questions honestly and truthfully. If I don't know answers, it gives me a chance to do some research and hopefully find answers or places to refer other people to. I know in 10 years, I will definately be an expert breeder though. :D

Don't throw away your leaves. Even though it's probably not worth smoking, leaves are excellent for cooking =) I love cooking my leaves in milk in a crockpot for 6-8 hours, then chilling the milk, adding some herseys chocolate syrup, then drinking it. Its a nice trip that lasts for hours.
