Using a EC-pen (TDS digital tester). Also have a bottle of PPM 800 solution. When & how do I use this stuff? I didn't come with any directions.. I have no clue. Do I test the water before I adjust PH levels or before I add nutrients to the water? How much water do I use, how much solution do I use? Please help me...
First off you have to know the name of it . Then you need to go to the manufactures web site to se how to calibrate it and use it. Find out if it's just EC or if it gives the ppm TOO..As for the solution, keep that sealed up it is a calibration solution and does not get mixed with anything. You put some in a little cup and dip your meter in it. If your meter shows 800 PPM then it is calibrated. then put the solution back and seal it up. This is the deal , you can check you water, you should be using RO or distlled water. If your water is under 200 PPM then it not too bad if over you should be using nuttrients for hard water. You need to know your water level PPM them mix you rnutes for the stage of your plants life. They should add up together water and nutes. Mixs nutes let stand for 5 minute. then check and adjust the ph.

You might want a good book too like the indoor grow bible. do searches and read all you can. Give as much info as you can when asking questions. Tell us what your setup is and how much room you have. If your meter only shows EC (eletrical conductivity ) Then you need a conversion chart to tell your PPM. TDS (total disolved solids). Working on my second cup of coffee, time for the morning buzz, oh hell it's almost lunch I missed it. LOL Now I have to catch up. I just saw your grow cab awsome setup. You will be having fun. Just watch your co2. I don't know how much they give off good thing you have a meter let us know what they do . normal air should be about 300 PPM of co2 and you can go to 1500 PPM for max. be carefull co2 can flood a room and kill you.

Hopefully someone is familiar with this tester, this is ths 1st time I had 1 of these, so I have no idea how this works, like I mentioned before this product didn't come with how to use directions so I have no idea when & how should I test the water.. I tried that website, I don't have a home computer I can get online using my hand heldphone. So I guess tha website doesn't fully show up thru cellphones. My main question is when do I test the water. Do I test the water before or after I add nutrients to my water? How often do I test the water? Last, I have that 800 PPM solution (which came with no directions on how to use it) when & how much do I use tha solution? That's mainly my main concerns. I know how to use the tester now, I just don't kno when to use it & when & how to use the 800 PPM solution.. I can't get started to I fully understand what I'm doing. Is there a forum where it explains step by step on growin thru my cabnet system.. I have tha indoor bible but for a 1st timer its like readin in a defferent language...
The solution is only to calibrate your meter . put some 800 ppm in a cup . turn on your meter and set for ppm, then put meter in cup with solution . if it reads 800 your meter is right . you need solutions to calibrate the ph too. put solution back and save. Now turn on meter and dip the end in rez. What's it read there you go ppm. The 800 solution is for milwakie tester. You need others for the hanna I have the next step up to ppt. You need different solutions to calibrate that tester.. Some how you got to get online and check them out. Do not put that 800 PPm in your hydro. These meters come pre calibrated. Put your water in rez. Check ppm then add nutes to that number. for veg or flower. then any other additives, check ppm. Wait 5 minutes and check ph. Adjust up or down. 5.9 Is great.
Ok I'm tryin to prepare for my rez,, so this is what I did. I took a cup of tap water, I turned on my dist 1 conductivity tds meters with automatic temperature compensation HI98300/1/2/3/4 I got a readin of 100.Then I take a cup of my 800 PPM solution put the dist in the solution, it read 70, then I I turned the screw on the side of them meter until it went no higher, I got a readin of 1248. So now I'm confused, so I started over after I put it in the solution. I put the tester back in tha cup of tapwater & got a reading of 170-173 . Then I put the tester back in tha solution & it stayed around the 1248 reading. I turned the screw but nothin happen. Then I read the instructions that the HI98300 is supposed to read 1500 ppm. But it won't go higher tha 1248 in tha solution? Did I do it correctly? Does this sound right?
