Instead of cutting them, I'd recommend tucking and tying them. I use pipe cleaners, which seem to be the easiest and they have the fuzzy coating that won't cut into the stems. That way, the fan leaves still do most of their job while light gets to the secondaries.
Just gently pull the fan leaves all to one side and tie them down. I used a wire across the bottom of the pot, but you can even anchor them to the main stem itself.
Tie the Fan Leaves to the stem.Gently move the Fan Leaves stem up and down to prepair it for bending instead of just bending it right away and risk snaping the fan leaves off.I usally tie them with Hemp String or Twist Ties. But i would never tell anyone to go cliping at there plant's fan leaves.
Sorry to screw thread up bro.Just this is my first time hitting from my own grown bud.And man time seem 's to be in overdrive or somthing.(First High In A Month)
I have learned that the peice of stem that comes off the Larger Shade Leafs actually support the base of the larger Buds when flowering time comes around.
unless they are yellowing and come off with no pressure leave them on there..
