What type of light? If it's something like a 400w or larger MH or HPS then you need to open the transformer case and rewire at the transformer tap. If you can rewire it there will be labels on the wires that say 240v or 120v on the input side. Just swap them out, neutral is neutral so that is the same there should only be one wire that you need to change. It's either a wire or a tap.
Cool thank you sooooooo much.
A couple ,few H 1000w HPS's
the other wires will have COM written on them...
leave them at high voltage if you can.....240 volts will pull less amps(current, electrical flow) than 120 volts. you pay for current (flow) not voltage. according to Ohm's law, current equals voltage divided by resistance. 240 volts has a higher potential, it uses 1/2 the amperes (current flow) than wiring it for 120 volts. to get 240 volts you tie two breakers together on your panel so that both legs have 120 volts as opposed to 120 having a hot and a neutral. when i hit the lottery i'm going to travel the country wiring up grow rooms for heads!
Problem is most electric company's charge by the watt hour so you don't really save any money the watt hour is still the same if you run 120v or 240v. That may not be the case everywhere but in the USA that is what they use.Quote:

true on the watt-hour!! i forget that the meter outside of the house is a watt-hour meter, not an ammeter!
