Crown prosecutor Steven Bilodeau said it is the first such case in Canada he knows of and added that although so-called anime containing child porn is not very prevalent here, Canadians need to know it is illegal.

Bilodeau also said new laws, effective Nov. 1, provide for mandatory jail sentences for importing child porn.

The prosecutor told court that animated child porn has a "noxious" side despite not depicting living victims, because it can dangerously "inflame viewers" and can appear to "normalize" the exploitative sex crime.

Bilodeau said the animated child porn images seized from Chin were very disturbing.

"These images are very disgusting and very violent. There are pictures of babies in diapers being raped," he said.

Court heard city police were alerted after customs agents discovered a mail package addressed to Chin consisting of 15 anime magazines containing child porn on Jan. 31.

On Feb. 10, cops arranged a "controlled delivery" of the package to Chin's south-side home and arrested him.

A search was done and officers found 63 similar magazines.

Court heard police also found hundreds of pages of anime child porn downloaded from the Internet.

Defence lawyer Darcy Depoe said Chin did not know what he was doing was illegal and it was his first offence.

"This 26-year-old man is probably best described as naive," said Depoe.

Tilley placed Chin under house arrest for the first six months of the conditional sentence, fined him $150 and ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service.

Chin will also be on probation for 18 months following the sentence and must take counselling as directed.

He is also forbidden from using a computer and accessing the Internet.

The judge also ordered him to provide a sample of his DNA for the national DNA data bank in Ottawa and placed him on the sex offender registry for five years.

I might be alone in this, but I'm glad its legal in the United States. Freedom of expression isn't only applicable when it suits you. It's allowed even if its found offensive or disagreeable by society so long as it doesn't infringe on anybody else's rights or is likely to incite imminent violence. So long as its drawn, its not a crime, its an expression. It would be stupid to say you can't draw babies getting raped, but you can draw people getting decapitated--
So long as its drawn, to me, draw WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WISH. Don't let people in power dictate what's okay and what isn't, that's an intrusion on your rights to express yourself.

That seems really absurd to me, because for some people, when you take away their cartoon pictures of little kids getting raped, that's when they go out and start searching for the real thing. Art only offends those who look at it, and if you pick up a magazine full of cartoon kiddie porn and get offended by the contents, you are the only one to blame for that.

is just going a bit too fucking far imo, they are cartoons! there is no way to tell when they were 'born' which means there is no way to tell if they are children or not (other than baby's in diapers) in all actuallyity i'm fuckin sick of hearing about sex offenders 'can't do this, can't do that' in my town they can't even hang halloween decorations anymore or have their lights on or else they risk going back to prison...i think this whole thing is just fucking ridiculous...i don't care what you guys think of me for saying this ...maybe i'm the only one that will stand up for human rights anymore, maybe i'm the only one th at even cares about human rights anymore, but this whole 'sex offender' thing is just getting fucking ridiculous...before you know it sex offenders won't even be let out into the community to get groceries or be allowed to order utilities because the clerk you pay yoru bill too has a ch ild under the age of 18. also at two public schools in my community now, to even get into the public school for anything you must present a drivers liscense (or other state id) and if your name is found on the sex offender list, you will be escorted anywhere you need to go within the school, which is a half assed good idea, but what about the people who didn't actually commit the crime they commited or the people who decided they couldn't wait the 5 minutes to get to a gas station and got caught by the wrong cop.....again this shit is just getting fucking ridiculous.

Yes, the fact that he made wierd child porn Hentai is fucking wrong. But being charged for Child-Pornography because of his CARTOONS? That's pretty fucking stupid.
