does anyone know if common sage usually grown in yards has any salvinorum A in it?
i dont think so
Nope. Their are over 800 strains. The known strain to have Salvinorium A is a desert sage and rarely grown outside of the contents of somewhere in Mexico.
only the oaxacan sage or diviners sage (salvia divinorum) contains either salvinorin a or b. and it only grows naturally in oaxaca, mexico..(some speecualte that is from the high amount of radiation in the ground)
you can buy clones of it from some places.
its a very sacred plant. 1 out of every 100 or 1000 (i cant remember which) will even germinate. when it was first discovered, it only grew in a small area inside a ravine in oaxaca. the shamans there discovered it and chewed "quids" of the leaves to go on spiritual journeys. they then cultivated it and kept it a secret until recently.(it was the only herb that the spainards didnt take from them).
now it grows in a much larger area, and there are large farms which grow and sell it
